Richly Scented Candles

Come sniff around…

Making scented beeswax candles is not difficult to do. Since essential oil evaporates quickly you will need to pour the beeswax into your mold at a very low temperature. Once you have poured your beeswax into its mold you can add the essential oils. You will need to then stir your essential oil thoroughly, however at the same time you also want to be careful that you do not cook out your scent. This can happen if you stir it too much.

Scented beeswax candles can also be made without melting the beeswax. What you need to do is add your essential oils by rolling from the sheet of beeswax. You can then soak your wick in the essential oils and then start rolling around it as well. One other way in which you can add essential oils to your beeswax candles is by dropping a drop of oil into the melted pool of wax that has accumulated on the top of your candle. Using beeswax is both an easy and a fun way to make scented candles.

If you choose to place the essential oils in your wick then you will need to first pre-cut your wick to whatever length you desire. Then you will need to place your essential oil and a small amount of rubbing alcohol into a small glass jar and shake it well to make sure that the liquid is mixed. If you want to use the alcohol in order to extend your essential oil then you will want to ensure that the fragrance is distributed evenly throughout your wick. Once you prepare the mix you can then place all of your wicks into the mixture. You will want to close the lid and shake it well. You may also want to let it sit overnight.

Once you have prepared your wicks you can work with the beeswax. This should be done at room temperature because if it is too cold it cannot be rolled. You will also want to make sure that you have a good contact between the wick and the candle and that there are no air pockets. Start rolling the beeswax until you get the thickness that you desire. Once you have done this you can then use a hot knife in order to seal the edge. Make sure that you roll the candle really tight because if you do not it will not burn properly.
